Heat capacity

Also known also as thermal capacity. It is the measure of the heat energy required to increase the temperature of a unit quantity of a substance by a certain temperature interval.

Heat shield

A layer of a material used to protect an object from being heated.

Heat sink

A tool used to protect components when soldering from the heat of the soldering iron. Crocodile clips are often used as heat sinks.


Means 'with the sun in the centre' The solar system is heliocentric.


A soldering aid which allows components to be held securely in fixed crocodile clips so you have both hands free to solder.

Hertz (Hz)

The SI unit of frequency.


The ability of a living organism to regulate its internal environment in order to maintain stable internal conditions.
