Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I join?
Fill in the short registration form on the registration page and your login details will be emailed to you, usually instantly but certainly within 30 minutes. If you do not receive your login details within 30 minutes, please check your 'bulk', 'junk' or 'spam' folders. If you still don't have them, email support@preproom.org for assistance.
- How do I log in?
Click on the green 'Login' button located at the top-right of each page then enter your email address and password in the relevant boxes and click 'Submit'. Ensure your email address and password are spelled correctly and contain no spaces. You will receive a randomly generated password when you register. You can change this to something more memorable when you login. Simply go to 'My Account' and select 'Change my Password'.
- How do I logout?
When you are logged in, a red 'Logout' button will appear at the top right of each page. Please make sure you logout after each visit to the site especially if you are working on a computer that is used by other people.
- I have forgotten my password, what shall I do?
Select the 'Click here to reset your password' link on the login page. Enter your email address and you will be sent instructions on how to reset your password. We cannot remind you of your current password because we use advanced password encryption for your protection. No one at Preproom.org will ever know what your password is.
- Who in our school is allowed to use the site?
Any member of staff in your school can register separately to use the site. Please do not share individual logins for security reasons. Students and pupils are not allowed to use the site.
- Can I print off pages to use in school?
Yes, you are welcome to print off any of the pages and diagrams for use in your establishment only. All pages are copyright preproom.org and should not be copied for distribution outside of your place of work.
- Can I use the website at home?
Yes, we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and you can log on from anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection.
- Can my school join?
Since January 2012, we no longer accept whole-school logins. Each member of your staff wishing to use the site must register separately. Please do not share individual logins for security reasons. Any schools that joined before 2012 will need to re-register as individuals.
- Who can join?
We aim most of our content towards UK-based KS3, KS4/GCSE sciences although much of the site will be useful in supporting A-level and vocational sciences. Any individual working in science education is welcome to join us wherever they are based in the world.
- Are you a University company?
No. We are completely independent and not affiliated to any university, organisation or supplier. By being independent, you can be assured that our focus is primarily on supporting our members and creating useful content with no hidden agendas.
- How do you differ from the free sites out there?
Join us and see for yourself! One of the main ways we differ is that many free sites rely on contributions and content from members, whereas we create our own. We are not simply a forum, we also design and develop a range of content you won't find anywhere else.
- I am waiting for an email from you but have not received it
Check your 'bulk', 'junk' or 'spam' folder first to see if the email is in there. If you still cannot find it, email support@preproom.org for assistance. We aim to reply to all support enquiries within 24 hours.
