Well, the summer holidays are in sight but for many of us this time of year can be the busiest and most hectic. Ordering equipment, sorting stock and compiling inventories are just three of the many tasks asked of the average science technician during this part of the year. Hopefully a well deserved break is at the end of this period for most of you, and for those working over the summer holidays, we hope it goes smoothly!
During the summer holiday period we will, as always, be working on the site and this year we will be concentrating on adding a series of new content in our Info Library as well as improving several areas of the website.
During this past academic year, the site has developed vastly. Over 1000 pages of downloadables were added to our members’ area and more than 200 schools joined us. In real terms, well over 1000 individual science technicians have access to our unique resources. Our monthly email newsletter was launched in January and is sent to all our members and hundreds of non-members each month. We have also welcomed two local authorities to our growing membership.
In the autumn term we will be holding an “open afternoon” where anyone will be able to access the site for free. We know that the majority of those who take a free trial go on to subscribe so we thought we’d cut out the middle man and allow anyone in for the afternoon. More details will be available nearer the time.
The long term future of this site is of paramount importance to us and we have been working very hard behind the scenes to ensure we will be around for many years to come. We have done all we can so that our subscription fee is a small as possible and have made it easier for Local Authorities to subscribe on behalf of their schools. We hope to welcome hundreds more schools in coming years and will continue to develop the site for the benefit of school science staff and pupils across the UK
As always if you have any comments or suggestions about what we do or would like to help us promote the site in any way, feel free to email us at admin@preproom.org.
